hi!

hello everyone!! how is everything? this is pretty much the last day of break for me because there is chinese school tomorrow (ew) but it was a good week anyway. =) so that is a picture from jack's mannequin and THEY WERE AMAZING! i was kind of mad at first because there were 3 opening bands which each literally took an HOUR, and they were terrible. they were we are the fury, the audition, and head automatica. we are the fury and the audition were all SUCH unsuccessful panic! at the disco wannabes and it made me sick, and they just kept on screaming into the mics and i eventually had to buy earplugs because i felt like i would go deaf. three hours of that!! i nearly fell asleep, seriously. but then jack's mannequin came on and i took my earplugs out and screamed and danced for the next two hours they are so amazing, and then when it was all over andrew mcmahon stood on his grand piano and started dancing and ahhh he is cute!! :D then for the rest of this week i went skiing, read a lot, had people over, had a sleepover every single night (one with albert & my grandma lol), and cleaned the house a lot more. i really do like cleaning. :D

but on another note, i finished a book called the book thief by markus zusak and it truly was.. shocking! if any of you have ever seen the prestige i would compare its format to that, like there's a bunch of foreshadowing and flashbacks which makes it confusing to read unless you're reading it in only like 2 or 3 sittings, but it's so amazing how everything comes together in the end and i was seriously so blown away. not to sound cheesy but it's one of those books that's more considered an actual "experience" by people instead of just a book. i definitely recommend it, like with all my heart, and i'm going to read the author's other books asap. :D then i'm gonna take on the harry potter series again (BOOK 7 COMES OUT JULY !!!!!!!!!!) because i badly need to re-remember everything that happens :D

ooh, and i also got my course for this year: youth & society, service learning in baltimore. i do think that the class sounds exciting but i don't think i'm going to end up going because it's too far away and i don't want to make my parents drive or get a plane ticket or something. once they let us change courses i'll probably switch to something closer. =)

hope things are going super duper for all of you!!!
love,
geena

Looks like I might not go back to CTY...

It's all depending on this month. Me and my dad got into another big fight, and then it turned to him shouting at me about Chinese. I can't ever remember anything but the basics, since I always forget if I don't study something for a week. I've got major trouble remembering characters, and nothing ever works.

So, he got pretty mad at me. He decided he was going to send me to camp in China for a month instead of CTY, and then force me to spend another regular month at China right after. Fun way to spend the summer, right? Managed to give me one more chance, even though it took five more minutes of him shouting at me. I've got one month to figure out how I can learn Chinese and also learn it. So I guess I'm going to ask my friend to help me or something.

Just thought I'd tell you, in case anyone else is heading to Lancaster and wonders where I am when they get there.

OMG

i forgot to post this but now that i remember, i absolutely have to

you know that picture of all of you guys that i drew that i submitted into that drawing contest?

.....

.....

IT WON 2ND PLACE! WOOHOO!!! i don't know, i think that is pretty awesome considering i'm not totally into drawing and stuff and that the cty drawing wasn't really that exceptional. BUT, it is still cool! but the award is something like a painting set & plaque or something like that, and i don't think i'd do much with those so maybe i'll give them to someone artsy that i know. :) that made me so excited

anyway not much else is going on. i went to the mall today and there is SO much stuff on clearance right now, it makes me so happy :D i think i'm going back some other day with my dad because this president's day week is mostly the only time we really go shopping. we both get almost all of our stuff from clearance :D YAY so this is my tip to you, go shopping now if you can and i think you will be amazed. especially in department stores and stuff, like half of the clothes in the store are 75% off and it's great.

other than that i have nothing important to say,
LOVE,
GEENA. :D

Happy Chinese New Year!

Well, I'm actually typing this Saturday, not Sunday, but still, Happy Chinese New Year everyone!

I've kinda got nothing else to say...I don't know. My life's rather boring, I think, compared to everyone else's I know, a friend from school or a friend from CTY. Some of the time I think it's a good thing, most of the time I think it's pretty awful.

But I don't think I deserve to complain.

YouTube is GOD!!!!

Hey guys!!!

My friend (who went to CTY at Skidmore) found this on YouTube. It is the nerd theme song- yay Wierd Al!!!! Though I think this is far more nerdy than any of US will ever be...

Primitive

P.S. We're now in our 8th month of Blogger!
P.P.S. I found a cute cartoon on my last year's S.S. teacher's website:

Hi dudes and dudettes!

Yay! I'm one of those people who haven't posted in a long time.
Okay, some things that have been going on:

I have a creepy friend who falls in love in strange ways. First, she started liking a super tall guy at our school, and kept her feelings hidden for months, but still gushing about him to me behind his back. Then, she told him how she felt. He told her he didn't like her, but started to. Then he pulled her head onto his lap, stuck her finger up his nose, and got weird in those ways. So after that, she'd say, "Ugh. I am so over him. He turns me off." But then an hour later, she'd say, "Oh my gosh! He's looking at me! Do you really think he likes me?" and kept this pattern up for about one or two months. Then, she really fell out of "love" with him and had a crush on..... Mr. Dennis, our science teacher. She nicknamed him "umbrella" for some reason. She kept gushing over him- how strong, or hot, or adorable he was. I tried to talk her out of it. My sister told me that he was fresh from college the year he started teaching, and this is his fourth year. So I presumed he was 28 or 29. I said to her, "You know, he's more than twice your age." And she jumped and said, "HOW DO YOU KNOW?" So I told her. Then, she smiled and said, "Oh my god. You don't know how hard I've been working to find out he's under 30!" I told her, "Ya know, you can't marry him or anything." She said, "I know," and put her hand on her heart. "That's what makes me so sad." Then, she suspected that our 40-50 year old math teacher was dating him. I asked her why. She said, "Because they always have lunch together!" I told her that she was, 1. way older than him, and 2. married. She said, "I know, but things can happen." Then I said, "They might just be friends..." "Oh, I hadn't thought of that!" said she. Her passionate, undying love is still going strong.

There are two other things wrong with her.
1. She never does her homework. EVER EVER. NEVER. We had to watch 30 minutes of the Supreme Court on T.V. and she didn't watch it. Then she asked my friend to summarize it for her, which I suppose is acceptable because our S.S. teacher is intimidating and scary. But then, when the teacher was talking about it, she pretended to have watched it, and said, "OHHHH Yayaya, I saw that! I remember that!"

2. She's.. not very intelligent. To give an example, she thought that since she got a 20/30 on her thesis essay, she got a 90% because "90 is ten points away from 100."

Bleh, more problems with school. Sorry about complaining.

Everybody at school is either
1. obsessed with their image and a wannabe
2. popular and going along with the bullies to not seem "NICE!" GASP!
3. obsessed with showing off their boobs and butt.
4. obsessed with myspace, posting pictures that seemingly took 1 hour to take because of their unnaturally "fabulous" outfit. Their friends say they're gorgeous, but they aren't. Plastic with makeup.
5. obsessed with talking with people of the opposite gender about their body parts. Girls say:
"bra"
"underwear"
"boob"

and boys say:
"erec..."
"bon*r"
"pen island"

Our school is so messed up. I can't wait for high school. All of my friends are shallow wannabes who act like I'm lame around the bullies/cool people because I'm the only smart one. Oh, #6:
obsessed with saying "I'm such a klutz" or "I'm so stupid" or "I'm so ditzy" or "I'm so blonde. Ha." So basically, this stupid popular kid was sitting at our table, and he was like, "Let's all cheat off of Hye-Jung's test!" and my "friend" was like, "*mumble*something I couldn't hear." So I turned to her, and she was all trying to act cool and suave, and starting saying, "I was kidday-ing. Gosh. I'm kidding. I'm kidding, Hye-jung! Gash!!" and I'm like, "I didn't even hear what you said..."

Yes, our school is messed up. But I'm glad I'm not alone. Seems like everyone's having friend issues.

But, after you've heard my complaints, onto Valentine's Day!
Geena, your pens are awesome. They look so cool and are so creative. We had a snow day on Valentine's Day, but my friend gave me a homemade heart-shaped cookie with pink sprinkles attached with a valentine's ribbon to a heart-shaped container filled with heart-shaped sprinkles the next day. Yep, lots of hearts! Rae's flower frenzy program seems so cool! We don't have anything like that. Maybe, in high school, I should try to create one. It'd be sweet.. except for the "Shrouds of Mystery" (insert dramatic music here) clouding anonymous notes, like Rae got. ^.^

Hey, does anybody know any good music or songs? Other than Geena and Rae's great recommendations, I'm in a music slump.

Ooh! The subject of CTY! I almost forgot.

So I know that Scott is doing the Critical Essay: Pop Culture in Lancaster, and M.E.'s doing it in Pennsylvania. What are the other of you doing? I like Islam, Law and Politics in US History, International Politics, Youth and Society: Service Learning, Probability and Game Theory, Mathematical Logic, Individually Paced Math Sequence, Intro to Biomedical Sciences, Fast-Paced High School Biology, and Fast-Paced H.S. Chemistry. Critical Essay: Pop Culture sounds good, too. Do you guys have any feedback or thoughts? Good? Bad? Boring? Weird? :)

So anyway, have a great February vacation! I just got a cold, and my nose is a fountain of snot. But I'll enjoy the sleep! And the little flakes of snow falling from the heavens. Ice is good too.

waaaayey

today is friday and there is no school yeeuh :) anyway idk i've been thinking these days about the people i'm friends with. maybe its just me, but they are so immature. all they care about is themselves and promoting their own self-image and acting like they're having fun or rebelling all the time. i was sick with a cough for the past week and i have tons of homework to make up. my friend was planning for us to practice for the talent show today cause its only like a week away. i told her maybe but i wasn't sure cause i have so many essays to write for honors and work that i don't even understand! and she's all like "aw do you even realize that the auditions are A WEEK AWAY? god rae its like its not even important to you." this is coming from a person who tells me that she wants to get detention (jesus who WANTS to get detention? she thinks its "cool"), wants to cut class when she gets older, wants to drink and stuff. uh yeah we're all going to skip class or drink sooner or later in high school but its not like the rest of us actually PLAN it or want it now or anything. to me, it's going to be like a spur-of-the-moment. so i'm really mad and i just want yell my head off @ her (lmfao not a pretty sight). but does she seriously think i'd rather fill out honors applications than hang out?? i told her we could practice tomorrow or sunday or monday but she's acting all rawr over it. its not my fault i was sick! oh my. everyone's annoying me so much these days.

geena's post made me happy because the pens even LOOK comfy in the picture! haha i'm going to steal your idea, k? :) yay. looove you darling. and the pictures were amazing. the first one scared me half to deathhh lol. albert is so cute! say hi to him for me :) you guys are so lucky you got a foot of snow. we got less than 2 inches!! the weather hates us this yeeear :(

my new obsession: in the shadows by the rasmus. sail away by the rasmus. i was listening to those songs yesterday while doing homework. i love those guys. they deserve everything they have. the first song has a great beat and everything. and the second one is beautiful.

valentine's day was pretty same as always. i hope you guys got the valentine you wanted, cause i deeefinitely did not. our school had this flower frenzy thing where you pay $1 to send a flower gram to a friend or crush. i got 3 from my best friends and 1 anonymous. ;) to be honest i'm pretty sure it was just one of my friends playing a joke on me lol. but it felt nice getting it :) my homeroom teacher, mr. stickle (do you guys remember him from a previous post? he's my ss teacher as well haha) was handing them out and he was like "ooooh rachel got an ANONYMOUS!" everyone was like OOOOOHH. lmao before i forget whoever gave it to me spelt anonymous wrong :PPPPPPPPPPP ahahaaa.

so later today, i'm SUPPOSED to go to that person's place and practice. then other people are going to come over. but i don't even know if i really want to go she's getting on my nerves lately. AHHHHHH if i do, that gives me one hour to finish all this flippping homework. god i'm going have a breakdown before tomorrow. happy fridays, all. <3

looove, MEEE

happy post-valentine's!! (if you're into that stuff) :D

HI! how are things? i had a fun day today and a snow day yesterday! YES! although it was kind of a bad day for a day off because it was valentine's day and therefore v-day was postponed for today and it wasn't really the same. here is the snow if you are curious btw. (i had fun with pictures yesterday)

it's only about 5.5 inches in that picture, but there was a bit more than a foot, and the snow kept up for a whole day. the driveway took TWO WHOLE HOURS to shovel (with albert)!! and once it was shoveled it just snowed all the way down AGAIN! geez i was so frustrated, but the second time i just got my dad to snowblow. big workout for the arms though. then i pretty much spent the day at home. i got invited to go sledding but i didn't feel like being around like 30 people so i pretended i was sick and read books with albert instead.

anyway, for v-day my friend and i made pens! it's like, you buy a big pack of like 16 pens that work pretty well, and then you double side tape one side, and you wrap colored string or yarn or ribbon or something around, and it looks nice and feels nice. like these:

it was amazingly stressful though, because we went to stop & shop and then we had just 50 minutes to make 40 pens. and we didn't finish and i finished the last 10 or so. plus the mess we made took me half an hour to clean up. :P but, they are worth it, especially the fuzzy-yarn ones which feel like HEAVEN! if i could i would mail each of you like 5 of them, they feel awesome when you write with them.

anyway, other things have been pretty good i guess. school's not great because the teachers are still kind of putting zero effort into their jobs but i will not complain about that anymore. after tomorrow we're having february break and that's going to be great so i'm very happy right now. :D

hope things are going AMAZINGTASTIC for you all :DDD
love,
geena

PS!!!!!!!! i found another picture that i think is nice. i wash brushing my hair and got two brushes stuck in my hair, and albert has his new headgear on. :) can't even totally remember when it was taken but here it is !

PPS! one song that i think you should all have / listen to: she's so high by tal bachman, it is like a pop song from the (HAHAHAH i just typed "poop" instead of "pop" LOL anyway,) 90's and you might've heard it before. but it makes me feel warm and fuzzy and insanely happy so you should listen. !

NEWS NEWS NEWS AND MORE NEWS!!!!

Hey guys!!!

Okay. I haven't posted in a REALLLLLLLLLLLY long time and I have about a BILLION things to say so I'm just going to put it all in bullets...

-Okay, remember way back when when I took that horrible evil Kaplan course to prep for the test for NYC's specialized high schools? Because I really wanted to get into this one school Stuyvesant in Manhattan which is ridiculously hard to get into?

I got in.

I am MUCHO excited and I went to the excepted people open house last night and I love it. True, I will have to take the ferry and the subway and walk every morning and afternoon, but I have one friend who got into Stuy with me and a ton of friends who got into this school LaGuardia in Manhattan and there are two all boys schools in the city that a ton of people tak the ferry to get to so I'll have PLENTY of company.

-Next item on the agenda, I'm going to CTY again this summer!!!! I got into Critical Essay Pop Culture at Dickinson College (Carlisle, PA), which was my first choice. At this point I'm happy I got into anything because I got all of these emails saying I didn't get into any courses one day and I got so upset because I thought I wouldn't be able to go to CTY but then we called them and it turned out that their computers were screwed up and I got my real assignment in the mail. Where are all of you guys going, if anywhere?

-More good news!!!! I FINALLY got my dad to let me take MORE DANCE CLASSES!!!!!!!!!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Now in addition to jazz and lyrical on Thursdays, I take tap on Thursdays, Classical and Pointe on Mondays, and I demonstrate for the younger kids on Saturdays (all of whom are extremely annoying). I'm so happy!!!!! And I already got my pointe shoes!!!!! They're so pretty- Gala by Prima Soft. I'm kind of confused in tap because I'm in the advanced class and I haven't taken tap in 9 years, but my teacher breaks stuff down for me and whatever, so it's not that bad. And I'm a fast learner.

-My show was AWESOME!!!!!! It was so much fun!!! Ditto the cast parties afterward. Things are so crazy backstage. Someone's clothes are always missing, people are dancing, you just never know. Geena Bee was kind enough to agree to post some pictures for me, but I haven't emailed them to her yet (which I PROMISE I will do soon, Geena!!!).

-I'm addicted to two songs right now. "Listen" from Dreamgirls and this song "Touch Me" from the Broadway show Spring Awakening. You can play it at myspace.com/springawakeningonbroadway. Also, has anyone heard the new Fall Out Boy song (This Ain't a Scene... yada yada yada) or the song "Face Down" by the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus (wierd band name, right?)? And I'm really into John Legend right now because it's all my dance teacher ever plays for warm-up. Well, that and the soundtrack to Flashdance, which I also love.

-And lastly, who here has seen the Shoes video on YouTube? Isn't it HYSTERICAL!!!!!! My friend showed it to me at dance one day while she was checking her MySpace in the office. Just go to YouTube and search "shoes" if you haven't and it's like the first hit. But I wouldn't watch it while your parents are right behind you because there's a lot of cursing at the end.

Okay. I think that is the end to my rant. ;-D

Miss you all terribly!!!

Self Portraits and Songs

Hey, its nice to post again. I have been soo busy lately. My school is part of the National Junior Honor Society and i am an official member even if i can't remember to go to the meetings.

- I am gonna see 3 movies this week. ON wednesday, i am seeing Pan's Labyrinth with my 4 best friends.
- on Thursday, me and some of my classmates are gonna c "Freedom Writers" with the "supervision" of my math teacher.
- Friday, Some girls i know invited me to help them stalk my friend, Maris on her first date with her new 16 year old boyfriend.

Hey, asking all of you whats your favorite song if you haf to choose????

Oh yeah, for English i wrote the stupidest poem in the world that we had to write in less than 30 seconds.

Their nets brouught the fish in,
Their scale their teeth and flapping fin,
The fisherman yelled for them to stay,
But they had already flown away.

It's really fun to make up really quick poems.

something really odd?

with blogger. when u guys log in, is there a "switch to the new blogger" page that pops up after u type your password? idk first time i clicked something i found something that said return to dashboard. but i tried logging on today and it disappeared! =o so i went to http://coolessayists.blogspot and just commented instead. but when i finally got the link for the dashboard: http://www.blogger.com/posts.g?blogID=31086467, i tried it and it just went to the "new blogger" page. but after like 4 tries it did go to the dashboard. isn't that weird?

maybe we should find a new blog :( like a new blogging site i mean. i hate new blogger. unless someone wants to email or fone the authority people.

good times sake :)

HAHA this is just for a good chuckle when youre checking the blog ;) i absolutely love sarah's 'ew' expression! i was laughing so hard when i first saw it. and how ray's face looks so embarrassed aha! oh and how can u forget the legs or heels?! lmfao best part. anyway today was an interesting day. it was lollipop friday in music, so we all get to bring in... LOLLIPOPS!! hellz yeah our teacher is awesome :) he doesnt even care if we're late and lets us listen to our ipods while we work! except the only person that remembered to bring a lollipop was this kid jared (he had SIX of them. apparently he thought he'd go through that many blowpops in 45 mins). he's a funny story actually. in art, (last cycle) he did an extra credit project with CHEESE (CHEESE ..JUST CHEESE!) for graffiti art. and he listed ALL the types of cheese on the back of it too. swiss, blue, provolone, american, cheddar, monsteur... just wow. all i can say is that this guy knew his cheeses :) n also in computers (last last cycle) he worked on something extra again which was called THE ADVENTURES OF STUPID JUDY! lol the name got to be pretty addicting like it was a book title (u kno how junie b. jones and the blahblah sounds totally normal now you've heard of it and it's famous? well think if it just got created. u'd hear it and be like JUNIE B. JONES? WHAT IS THAT? stupid judy became pretty common too :D) and he would say at least twice a day, "omg you guys are gonna LOVE the adventures of STOOPUD judy!" lol he's funny but just really weird. anyway... no one got a lollipop from him even though we all kept asking :) YAY for pointless stories with no moral!

oh and geena. i'm trying to read 50 books before september and i'm starting with 1) A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN! i'm in the beginning-middle. it's a bit slow so far but i think / hope it will speed up. i recommend the truth about forever, this lullaby; both by sarah dessen. prep by curtis sittenfeld. kira-kira by cynthia kadohata (SO sad. its an easy read but its very good). one child, somebody else's kids; by torey hayden. memory keeper's daughter by kim edwards. <-- actually its not my fave but i just read it last month. and it deals a lot with changes that affect u forever but it drags some of the time. pretty heart wrenching too :( oh and also.. wait no thats it lol. i'm planning to get the 4th summer of the sisterhood this weekend tho. ALSO this is for geena too: i downloaded TUBTHUMPING and i love it! its so unique and weird but addictive haha. oh and landslide is such a cute song. i think i first heard it by the dixie chicks. btw guys book / music recommendations are welcome :)

tomorrow i might go malling... just hanging out .... or idk i don't really have plans yet :/ but i know that later i'm supposed to get married. TO JESUS :) its this thing that my church group is holding with a huge ceremony and chinese buffet and games ;D it's supposed to be semi-formal and pretty "wedding-like" but idk. i want to go cause i love my church but at the same time its just kind of weird u know? when i get married i'll tell my husband "oh btw i got married before!" "oh to who?" "JESUS DUH." lmao we'll prolly divorce the next day :) lol its just odd but still. idk. its not everyday u get married to jesus. obbbviously ha.

all of you guys that have myspace / neopets:
-www.myspace.com/urlilraeofsunshine (dad blocked it last year when i got too addicted but i'm trying to persuade him for it back. i go on about once a week @ other people's houses :P)
-neopets username: rockandroll579. ive had it ever since i was like 8 hah and one of my pets is named lizzie mcguire back when that show was love. lol. i'm playing it these days too geena... we're such adorable losers :)

loove your amigos, rachel <3

ps. do any of u have facebook? i was thinking of getting it soon.. i think its the new myspace :) except safer lol.
