Hope

My English teacher, Mrs. Moran, is my favorite teacher. She challenges us, helps us, and even inspires us. Mrs. Moran's aunt was watching Oprah and Oprah gave $1000 to people in the crowd to use towards charity. Her aunt was so inspired that she decided to give each one of her neices and nephews $200 each to do the same. Mrs. Moran got her money and decided to have us make sugestions and we voted. The winner was the Devanna Center for Abused Children, which is center where children go to see their real parents so that they can learn how to control them without abuse. The center is right here in Braintree and everyone felt very strongly about it. Mrs. Moran called the director at the Devanna Center and told her that she would be making a donation of about $500 and the woman began to cry. The next day Mrs. Moran came in and told us that if we wanted to help then we could bring in some money. By the next day more than $700 had been raised. The next day $1580.30. When Mrs. Moran brought the money to the center the woman broke down in tears again. We had tripled what they had expected. When Mrs. Moran told us that she had delieverd the money she started to cry too. She was just so amazed that we were so eager to help and give those kids and their parents hope. Now Mrs. Moran is trying to get us in the Boston Globe and maybe even Oprah. So far we are in the Braintree Forum, the local newspaper.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

That's wonderfulness! It's a perfect Christmas miracle. It's great that your teacher is awesome and that she raised tons of money for a charity organization. How heartwarming.
